Configuration of Apple Mail
This page explains how to configure the RWTH mail account with Apple mail. If you want to setup a new account follow the Instruction 1, Instruction 2a and Instruction 2b. If you have already configured Apple Mail, but you want to change the outgoing server, then follow Instruction 1 and Instruction 2b.
Instruction 1: Installation of the certificate

To download the certificate click the following link: DER |

Navigate to the folder where the downloaded file is stored. Use the Finder. |

| Execute the file. | |
|
Please check, if the correct keychain is chosen (System-Root). Add the certificate to your keychain, by clicking OK. |

Then you have to enter your administrator name and your administrator password. Then click OK. |
Instruction 2a: Configuration of Apple Mail
Attention:If you have already configured Apple Mail, but you want to change the outgoing server, then follow Instruction 2b.

Launch Apple Mail and start the assistent for "New Accounts". There you have to click Next. |

Please choose IMAP or POP as server type. Our servers support both protocol. We use here the POP protocol. The text under the point description is free selectable. We recommend to use RWTH Mailaccount. Please enter your name into the field name. Enter your complete RWTH email address into the field email address. Then click Next. |

Please enter mailbox.rwth-aachen.de into the field Incoming mail server.
Enter your UserID+Domain as username. (for @rwth-aachen.de e.g. aa123456+rwth-aachen.de, or for @post.rwth-aachen.de e.g. aa123456+post.rwth-aachen.de). Enter your password for your RWTH email account into the field password. Then click Next. |

Enter relay-auth.rwth-aachen.de into the field Outgoing server. Please activate: Use identification. Again, enter your UserID+Domain as username.
Enter your password for your RWTH email account into the field password.
Then click Next. |

Now an overview of your settings is displayed. Please check these settings for errors. If you find an error use the Back button, to change the according settings. Then click Next. |

Now, click Finish.
Now your RWTH mail account is configured. Please follow the steps in Instruction 2b. |
Instruction 2b: Change of the Server-Ports / Change of the SMTP Server

Start Apple Mail and open Accounts. Choose your RWTH-mailaccount. Choose Account Information and there you have to choose Server Settings. Please be sure that the server relay-auth.rwth-aachen.de is chosen.
If relay.rwth-aachen.de is displayed you use the old server. |

If necessary change the SMTP server to relay-auth.rwth-aachen.de and activate Use SSL. Adjust the Server Port to 465. Choose password as identification. If username and password are not entered, enter them now: Enter your UserID+Domain as username. (for @rwth-aachen.de e.g. aa123456+rwth-aachen.de, or for @post.rwth-aachen.de e.g. aa123456+post.rwth-aachen.de). Enter your password for your RWTH email account into the field password. Then click OK. |
