These instructions can be also used for Windows XP in a similar way.
Please assure that you have set a new password for your WLAN/VPN account in the selfservice tool after February, 1st 2008. If you didn´t set a new password or if your are not sure, please set a new password!
Please assure that the following 3 certificates are installed on your computer: Telekom Toplevel certificate, the DFN-Global certificate and the RWTH certificate
If not you can get the certififates if you first to connect to the MoPs-Net and open a browser to get to the needed websites for the time of installation. If you didn´t get linked to the installation guides please enter the URL into your
browser manually.
Open the Network- and sharing center.
Please choose "Administrate wireless networks"
(If you are using Windows XP you have to configure the wireless networks of your wireless LAN adapter)
Please be sure, that you change the wireless networks of the correct wireless LAN adapter. Create a new wireless network.
Create a new profile manually
Then you have to change the connection settings
Please choose the option, that you connect to the network if it is in range.
In the tab "Security" you have to choose "Protected EAP" (PEAP)" as authentication method.
Within the settings of PEAP you have to validate the server certificate with the root certificate authority Deutsche Telekom Root CA 2.
Please choose EAP-MSCHAP as authentication method.
Please to not use the Windows login name in the EAP-MSCHAP v2. Windows will ask you for you login data during the first connection establishment.
Now close and approve all open configuration windows.
Connect with the eduroam-network
As soon as a connection with eduroam is established, a speech bubble appears, which asks you to enter further information. Click it!
Now you have to enter your user ID followed by the RWTH domain (for e.g. ab123456 @rwth-aachen.de) and your belonging password. to you WLAN/VPN account.(changeable via selfservice tool) The domain remains empty.
After that the network identification is done within the Network and Sharingcenter
If you connect the first time with eduroam, you are asked about the type of the network. Please choose public network.
Now the connection is established and you have access to the network of the RWTH Aachen University and the connected internet.
