eduroam
eduroam provides an encrypted access to the wireless network. This access can be used worldwide at all research facilities which are connected to eduroam. VPN is not needed in this network. eduroam should be the first choice, if you need a wireless access.
Important: To use eduroam with a higher bandwidth (802.11n, not available on all locations), the client has to connect via WPA2 and AES encryption.
Since February 2008 the authentication is also possible with PEAP / MSCHAPv2. Now it should be possible to use eduroam with all devices. Further information can be found in the general settings.

mops
mops was the primarily wireless LAN of the RWTH Aachen University. In future mops is only available as an information network.
The users are ask to use eduroam , because the user data is only protected with eduroam.
- Guest of the RWTH Aachen University can use the SSID mops, if the host applied a guest account. The user data is prompted within this network.
- After the connection establishment an IP address is assigned via DHCP

- You will be automatically redirected to the log in page
- There you have to enter your log in data, which is provided by your host
- Attention: After a successful authentication, all data traffic is transferred with out any encryption, if you use unencrypted protocols. Please use only encrypted connection if you transfer important data.

- Like guests of the RWTH Aachen University, members of the RWTH Aachen University can use the authentication via the log in page. But all traffic is unencrypted after a successful authentication. Please consider the advice above, Since April 1st, 2009 the connection will be canceled after 30 minutes. Please use eduroam.
