Activating the archive
To use the archive service an identification from our Identity Management system (TIM) is absolutely necessary.
If you already have a user id and the respective password for example from the dial-up access (WLAN/VPN) or your mail address (firstname.lastname@rwth-aachen.de) you are already in charge of the necessary identification. If you do not have such a user id, you can fill out a form to apply for it. The archive service is furhtermore only accessible as an employee of the RWTH. For user of the RV-NRW the archive is available as well.
Please follow these steps afterwards:
- Active your account for the service "Tivoli Storage Manager - Archiv" in the idenity management
- Install the necessary TSM client software
Note to point 1: To active your account at the identity management you have to read and accept the necessary rules for the backup service.
Note to point 2: This step is not necessary if you already backup your computer with TSM (TSm archive and backup require the same software) or want to archive data that is on the Computing-Cluster of the Center for COmputing adn Communication.
