Groundbreaking ceremony for RWTH Campus Melaten
On 18 February 2010, a groundbreaking ceremony took place to mark the commencement of construction work on the new RWTH Aachen research campus. The ceremony was performed by RWTH Rector Ernst Schmachtenberg and Dr. Jürgen Rüttgers, the Prime Minister of the Federal State of North Rhine-Westphalia. By establishing its new, extensive research campus, RWTH Aachen University sets out to become one of the leading technical universities worldwide.
The Center for Computing and Communication broadcasted the event live to the Internet.
