Why a Grid?
The computing power of todays computers is enormous. Hardly, no computer uses this power during the normal tasks except for rendering 3D scenes or playing the newest 3D Game. In average 95% of the computing power are unused.
The intention of the NRW-Grid is, to utilize the not used computing power. With this the computing power provided by members of the RWTH Aachen University, is available for all members of the RWTH Aachen and users of the RV-NRW, without additional costs for hardware.
