The Center for Computing and Communication operates a installation server with several Linux distributions. The server can be used for free by the institutes, facilities and residential accommodations. |
| Update server |
Among the installation sources, the updates of various Linux distributions will be mirrored each night, to make them available to the employees, institutes and students as fast as possible. |
| Linux security |
The systems within RWTH net are often targets of attacks from within the internet. The Center for Computing and Communication tries to protected the RWTH net, but this can´t be done without the help of the users. Please consider that the security of your own PC and your own data is at risk, if you do not secure your system. Because of the terms of use you are committed to secure your system. |
| Update Mailingliste |
Because it is not very comfortable to check every day, if an update for the used distribution is available or not, the Centre of Computation and Communication provides two mailing lists one for Fedora updates and one for SuSE updates which informs the user if an update is available. With the mailings list it is easy for the user to be automatically informed if an update is available. |
| Sophos |
The Center for Computing and Communication provides the SOPHOS virus scanner for free. The virus scanner can be used by all institutes and facilities of the RWTH and FH Aachen. Also employees and students can use the scanner for free. |
