Laptop pool
Within the research project "Ubiquitous RWTH for Mobile eLearning", the BMBF provides capital to buy notebooks. This notebooks should assure the use of the services. Although the project is finished the Center for Computing and Communication offers several laptop pools. This pools can be used by the the institutes and facilities to perform lectures and talks. The usage of the pools should support the mobile services and web based teaching activities.
The notebooks are not for the private use!
Configuration of the laptops
The laptops equipped with a 10/100 Mbits Ethernet adapter and a build-in wireless LAN adapter. In rooms with a according wireless LAN infrastructure (MoPS / EDUROAM) it is possible to realise a connection to the RWTH net. Please note that the laptops named T40 only support the IEEE 802.11 a/b standard. So they are not able to connect to MoPS/Eduroam. The Center for Computing and Communication provides the laptops with standardized software (Windows, Open Office and several tools). If special software is needed, the renter is responsible for the licensing and installation.
Before a new lending the software will be newly installed by the Center for Computing and Communication.
